On Friday, February 14, students competed in the annual Science Olympiad. There were over 10 events that took place that day, such as Egg Drop, Pictionary, Human Hungry Hungry Hippos, and more. Elias Wright took home the trophy by winning the most events. This year’s Science Olympiad was a huge success.

Elementary Book Club
The National Honor Society has started an elementary book club open to grades K-4. Meetings take place on Thursdays at 3:45 in Mrs. Danes’s room. Kids are welcome to bring their own books or can find one with the help of a high schooler.
Junior Class Fundraiser
On Wednesday, April 24, the class of 2024 had a Cameo Pizza fundraiser to earn funds for the senior class trip. Thanks to the community the class raised a large sum to go towards their trip. Thank you to those who contributed!
Cooper’s Woods Fun Walk
On Monday, April 22, Earth Day, students participated in a Fun Walk through Cooper’s Woods with Mrs. Kowalski after school. The walk was a on a mile long trail in the woods, and participants pulled invasive garlic mustard plants along the way. Happy Earth Week!
Sculptures
Students in Art I are creating 3-D sculptures using armature wire and translucent fabric.
Book Drive
The National Honor Society is holding a book drive that benefits the Kids’ Book Bank in the Cleveland area. The drive ends on Thursday, March 27, but a collection bin will stay at the Island General Store until Tuesday, April 2. Please donate your gently used books!
Murder Mystery Week
Wednesday, March 6, marked the beginning of the 19th annual Murder Mystery Week. All students in Mr. Kowalski’s math classes must participate in this event. Valentine’s Day Carnations
Throughout the past week, students and faculty bought carnations for each other in a show of school and holiday spirit. On Valentine’s Day, Student Council members delivered the carnations to students throughout the school. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Play Auditions
On Tuesday, February 6th at 6 P.M. the PIB Arts Council is holding auditions for “Peter Pan.” Both adults and children in fifth grade or up are allowed to audition. Auditions are located in the upstairs of the Town Hall. Hope to see you there!
Quizbowl at Tiffin Columbian
On Tuesday, November 15, the Put-in-bay Quizbowl team faced-off against Tiffin Columbian and Calvert at the Tiffin Columbian High School. They lost in their first match against Columbian, but demolished Calvert with a score of 230 to 95. Afterwards the team enjoyed an incredible meal at Applebee’s.
