Mr. Shuffenecker took his government class on a trip to the federal courthouse. The class was given a complete tour of the courthouse and even got to watch a plea deal take place. The class got to eat pizza with the judge and learned plenty about the legal system.

Washington, D.C. Trip
The high school traveled to Washington, D.C. on March 29, 2026. There, everybody toured the city with three other schools. All of the classes visited important landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial and the Arlington National Cemetery as well as the US Capitol. The students and teachers returned to the island on April first.

Murder Mystery
Mr. Kowalski set up and hosted a murder mystery for all students, 7-12, to participate in. The defense team of Caleb Kowalski, Dominik Kruzynski, Aayden Kruzynski, and Lear Cooks persuaded the jury to give Mrs. Cerny an innocent verdict. The murder mystery was a great success.

Staff Appreciation Lunch
On Thursday, March 12, the Basketball Moms hosted a lunch for the Put-in-Bay School faculty and staff. The menu included: turkey, ham, side dishes, as well as a yummy dessert. The staff greatly appreciated being treated to a delicious lunch.


The Seniors’ Last Sports Awards
Lukas and Cody attended their last sports awards on March 10th, 2026. They got their final awards for basketball, and Lukas even received the Co-MVP award and the Captain’s award. Thank you to our seniors for a great season!

5 Students go to NWOSEF for Science Fair
Students Juliana, Emma, Olivia, Kate, and Melody went to Northwest State Community College to participate in the Science Fair. They all were gifted awards and all placed in their category.

Boy’s Basketball Tournament
The varsity boys concluded their season by taking home third place in the Harvest Temple’s end-of-season basketball tournament. A total of eight teams competed in this tournament.
Aayden Wins T-Shirt Contest
For Ohio Academy of Science’s T-Shirt Design Contest, Aayden was awarded first place out of the entire state. His design will be used for next year’s Science Olympiad shirt.

Science Fair/Olympiad
On February 13, Put-in-Bay School held its annual Science Fair/Olympiad. Featured in this image is Lear Cooks presenting his science fair project to judge Rudy Rence.

Senior Day
Seniors, Lukas Kostura and Cody Kowalski, were recognized before their last home basketball game. Lukas walked on the court with his parents, Suzanne and Joe Kostura. Cody was escorted by his parents as well, Melissa and Travis Kowalski. At the end, the seniors and their parents took pictures with the coaches. They contributed a great deal to the basketball season this year.

The End of The Season for Cheerleading
The Cheerleading season is now done. The cheerleaders had a great season, and cheered at many games–from the side lines and during halftime.
